City of Los Angeles to host First-ever Workshop on
Airports and Climate Protection
April 7-9, 2008
Millennium Biltmore Hotel, Los Angeles
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa of Los Angeles will host the C40 Large Cities Climate Leadership Group (the world’s largest cities dedicated to tackling climate change) in an international forum to discuss how cities can lead the way in reducing greenhouse gas emissions from aviation and airport operations. Mayors and senior staff will come together with key experts to develop meaningful solutions to this pressing problem. The workshop will address technological, regulatory and political barriers to reducing airport-based emissions and will include examples of effective policies and programs from around the world.
AGENDA SPECIFICS (TBD)
The workshop is one of three workshops following the May 2007 C40 Summit in New York, including the transportation workshop co-hosted by London and Stockholm in December 2007 and the C40 World Ports Climate Conference hosted by Rotterdam July 9-11, 2008. In May 2009, Seoul will hold the next C40 Climate Summit.
